Mozart Caffè Review: A Bari Local You Need To Try
Experiencing the Mozart Caffè for a review was a great opportunity to start our day with a delicious breakfast in a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

Introduction To Caffè Mozart
First, let’s be clear which Caffè Mozart we’re reviewing here. I hadn’t realized that in addition to the popularity of this name across Italy, it is also popular in Bari. This bar at which I had the pleasure of dining is in the Murat area of Bari. We rarely go on the south side of the train station, so I can’t speak to the other restaurants that share the name.
If you know the Murat area of Bari, it is more of a shopping area laid out in a grid and it is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Towards the east end of this area is a major pedestrian street on which Mozart Caffè at: Via Melo da Bari, 139, 70121 Bari BA, Italy.

We had gotten up early and were looking for some breakfast. Mozart Caffè opens early, 6:30AM everyday but Sunday when it opens at 7:30AM. We generally only care about breakfast, but if you are wondering, they close at 8:00PM on most nights, 8:30PM on Thursday and 1:00PM on Sunday.
The opening time is noteworthy because most of the coffee shops in Murat seem to open a little bit later. Knowing where to head to when everything seems closed is definitely a life saver, or at least a breakfast saver.

Atmosphere And Design
The ambiance is comfortable, but can be a little intimidating if your language skills aren’t up to snuff. This is not a tourist spot and they cater to locals, so be prepared with your order and expect an unexpected question or two.
For seating, I would describe it as “shotgun-style”. If you are familiar with houses in this style, it has a long central corridor with rooms on both sides running from front to back. For this bar, there is a row of tables on the left, and a long bar on the right that handles everything from coffee and pastries to gelato (during the summer).
The location’s appeal is that it is perfectly located for tourists who, like us, would typically stay in the Murat or Bari Vecchia neighborhoods. It was a short walk that was surprisingly uncrowded, even given the hour. After breakfast, it was also a short walk to the sea for a morning stroll on the lungomare.

Mozart Caffè Menu Highlights
The offerings should not be surprising. The standard selection of Italian pastries are available. Even that early in the morning, the pastries tasted fresh. Strangely, while we were sitting there, they got a delivery of something. If it was the daily pastry delivery, it would surprise me if what we ate was from the day before because of its freshness.
One surprise was the coffee. You can see in the pictures that I included the name: Caffè Izzo. I was unfamiliar with the roaster so I made a note so I could do some additional investigations when I returned home. I’m always looking for new coffee, and this tasted delicious in my cappuccino.

After some poking around online, I found the Caffè Izzo. The company started in 1979 focusing on artisanal roasting in the style of real Neapolitan Espresso. As I’m a big fan of coffee from Naples, it was no surprise that I liked this coffee.
Later, in the 1990’s they started to produce their own espresso makers and expanded from there. They also expanded into HO.RE.CA, which is the Hotel, restaurant and Caffè market. This seems to be where Caffè Izzo and the Mozart Caffè cross paths. Their espresso maker is from Caffè Izzo, just like their coffee, and it is a great combination.

Navigating The Visit To Caffè Mozart
If you are staying in a central location in Bari, like in Murat, you probably can’t find a more convenient bar open so early. You can find it at: Via Melo da Bari, 139, 70121 Bari BA, Italy.
This bar is popular with locals and tourists alike, but don’t expect to use much English here. Be prepared with your order in Italian, or just say: “cappuccino, per favor” and point to the pastry you want. They will figure out the rest for you.
Why Mozart Caffè Is Worth A Visit
I strongly recommend putting Mozart Caffè in Bari on your list of places to try during your next visit. Between the fresh pastries, delicious coffee, friendly staff and early hours, it makes for an inviting stop to start your day.
